Join the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing for Reunion 2009! Meet up with former classmates, connect with other School of Nursing alumni, and share great memories and exciting experiences from your time as a nursing student. This year’s Reunion will honor the classes of 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999 and 2004, as we celebrate your milestone years. And, of course, as our new class of Quinqs, the class of 1959 will join other Quinqs for a luncheon in their honor on Thursday and receive special recognition at the Reunion Brunch on Saturday.
Schedule of Events
These events are sponsored by the School of Nursing Alumni Association exclusively for nursing alumni and their guests.
(Please note: Locations are subject to change due to fall course schedule. Attendees will be notified upon arrival if event has been relocated.)
Thursday, October 15
VUSN Class of 1959 Quinq and Quinq Plus Luncheon with the Dean
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. ● Godchaux Hall Living Room
There is no charge for Quinq and Quinq Plus alumni for the luncheon, but spouses and guests are $20 per person. Parking is available at Godchaux Hall or Wesley Garage. Reservations required.
Quinq Tour of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt
2 – 3 p.m. ● Children’s Hospital
A shuttle bus will be provided for our guests, and the tour will begin at the Butterfly Garden at Children’s Hospital. There is no charge for the tour, but reservations are requested.
Friday, October 16
Valet parking from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Alumni Coffee Hour
9 – 10 a.m. ● Godchaux Hall Living Room
No charge but reservations are requested for this casual drop-by event.
Hot Topics: Informatics in Nursing
10:15 – 11 a.m. ● Frist Hall, Room 140
Senior Associate Dean Betsy Weiner, Ph.D., R.N., and Professor Trish Trangenstein, Ph.D., R.N. (B.S.N. ’75), will cover the latest technology in nursing. Reservations are requested.
Hot Topics: SimMan and Skills Lab
11:15 a.m. – Noon ● Frist Hall, Room 140
School of Nursing faculty member Sally Miller, M.S., R.N.C., will demonstrate how nursing students learn clinical skills using life-like mannequins connected to computers to simulate patient scenarios. Reservations are requested.
Lunch and Lecture by Dean Colleen Conway-Welch, Ph.D., C.N.M.
12:15 – 1:30 p.m. ● Frist Hall, Room 140
Pre-order a boxed lunch for $10 each or bring your own, and join this great presentation.
Dessert Social/Tour
1:45 – 2:30 p.m. ● Godchaux Hall Living Room
Relax with light refreshments and spend time catching up with classmates. Becky Keck, M.S.N., R.N., assistant dean for administration, will lead a 2 p.m. tour of the School of Nursing to showcase new office space, classrooms and training facilities during this time.

3 – 4 p.m. ● Sarratt Student Center Cinema
Chancellor Nicholas Zeppos will provide an update about the university to visiting alumni.
Saturday, October 17
Homecoming Reunion Brunch
8:30 – 11:30 a.m. ● University Club
Enjoy a mimosa or Bloody Mary before brunch while catching up with friends. A professional photographer will capture the event and take class photos, and the School of Nursing will mail each alumna or alumnus in attendance a CD of the photos. Dean Conway-Welch will recognize the Quinqs, present alumni awards and provide an update about the school. Cost is $15 for Quinq and Quinq Plus alumni; $20 for nursing alumni from all other years; and $25 for guests. Reservations required.

Registration deadline for School of Nursing Reunion events is Friday, October 9, 2009. To inquire about football tickets, please call the Reunion Office at (615) 322-6034, and please make sure you mention that you are a graduate of the School of Nursing when you purchase your seats.
