Program Length (full-time study)
Applicants seeking full time study are required to have two years of RN experience in acute/inpatient pediatrics or one year in the pediatric critical care unit or pediatric emergency department. Those seeking part-time (two or three years) may be accepted with one year of pediatric acute care RN experience and gain their second year of experience concomitant with their first year of study.
Applicants seeking a Post Masters Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care will be reviewed individually based on their prior course of study and experience. Primary Care PNP’s seeking a Posts Masters Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care may complete the program in two semesters of part time study. Primary Care educated PNP’s, who currently hold dual certification in Pediatric Primary and Acute care, may complete a modified post masters curriculum in pediatric acute care. Post Masters students are awarded a Post Masters Certificate in Pediatric Acute Care, not an MSN from VUSN.*
