Master of Science in Nutrition
and Dietetics

Are you interested in new developments in nutrition? Do you want to gain the knowledge and experience that will prepare you for delivering new health care solutions for patients, families and communities in multiple health care settings?

Vanderbilt University School of Nursing offers advanced education and training to prepare nutrition and dietetics practitioners who will create new ways to deliver safe, appropriate, diverse and cost-effective nutrition care.

The Vanderbilt Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics degree program offers:

  • Unique learning approaches, practice-based experiences and education and training that are grounded in scientific evidence and research.
  • Multiple entry options for dietitians and students interested in a career in nutrition and dietetics.
  • Two unique specialty tracks that will suit varied professional interests and goals.
  • Flexible scheduling or distributed course delivery and distance learning so that students can acquire the master’s degree without moving or giving up employment.
  • Informatics technology to support your education, improve the delivery of nutrition care and facilitate the management of nutrition services in health care systems.

What role will you play in advanced practice?

As an advanced practice dietitian, you will work in collegial capacities in interdisciplinary environments with nurses, physicians, other health care providers, food service professionals, pharmaceutical companies and government agencies. You will assist patients, families and communities with evidence-based problem solving and decision-making about food and nutrition. You will also serve as an advocate for clinical prevention, population health initiatives and evidence-based health policy through collaboration with other professionals and stakeholders.
