Credentialing Process
To become a billing provider, an advanced practice nurse must go through the payer credentialing process. The Center for Advanced Practice Nursing and Allied Health at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is the single point of contact for information related to credentialing. The process involves a numbers of steps, some of which may require several months.
It is also important to remember that the rules for credentialing and reimbursing advanced practice nurses vary across the health plans.
