Aggie Read, RN, MSN



Aggie Read teaches in the Professionalism Series and Community Health courses in the pre-specialty year.  With Community Health groups working at the Martha O’Bryan Center, she has implemented several successful initiatives pertaining to childhood asthma, kindergarten readiness and urban community gardening.  Prof. Read wishes to help students engage in VUSN’s vision to benefit the community and society at large. 


Current Scholarly Interests

  • Underserved/high risk elementary school children with asthma
  • Kindergarten readiness for underserved/high risk 5 year-olds
  • Community gardening in urban area identified as “food desert”
  • Dr. T. Berry Brazelton’s TOUCHPOINTS model of care applied to care of families at risk
  • Team-based learning and reflective practice approach applied to pre-specialty courses
