Current Research Interests

Dr. Squiers is board certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with specialization in cardiac critical care.   He holds faculty appointments with both the Vanderbilt School of Nursing, and with the Department of Anesthesiology/Division of Critical Care Medicine within the School of Medicine. Currently he serves as the program coordinator for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) Intensivist sub-specialty program at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and is actively teaches clinical physiology, advanced critical care and advanced critical care simulation.

Dr. Squiers research interests include a focus on clinical physiology, heart failure and bio-energetics.  His education interests focus on physiology education and the use high-fidelity simulation to develop student critical thinking.  A coauthor and coordinator of a large HRSA grant, Dr. Squiers is engaged in many School of Nursing and Medical School initiatives to expand the scope of collaborative practice in Intensive Care Units.
