Patricia Trangenstein, PhD, RN, BC
Professor in Nursing Informatics
Assistant Professor in Biomedical Informatics
Director, Nursing Informatics Program

Dr. Trangenstein is Professor and Program Director of the Nursing Informatics program at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to her position at Vanderbilt, she was the Director of the Center for Academic Technologies and Educational Resources(CATER) at The University of Cincinnati, College of Nursing.

She has over fifteen years of experience in online and distance learning, and provides direct support to faculty, students and staff at VUSN. Dr. Trangenstein possesses strength in nursing theory, (particularly Martha E. Rogers' theory) and has taught theory courses at the doctoral level at UC.

Her interests include the role of information technologies in the delivery of education and healthcare. Dr. Trangenstein's current project involves developing and integrating nursing informatics competencies across all levels of nursing curricula and developing faculty informatics competencies. She holds a PhD in Nursing from New York University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Saint Louis University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt. She is board certified in Nursing Informatics.
